Saya Kisaragi is a regular high school girl. When her father tells her the Ancient Ones are around, she picks up her sword to fulfill her duty.

Saya’s father tells her that Ancient Ones eat humans and that her mother died fighting them. Saya vows to protect everyone and goes to hunt them down.

Saya stops at Guimauve Cafe after school. A policeman asks after the storekeeper. Saya goes to confront the Ancient Ones, and an old train appears.

Rumors of a storekeeper’s disappearance were rife. The Ancient Ones got him. Saya fights to protect people, but can’t repel the coordinated attacks.

The Ancient Ones come from nowhere as Saya nurses a headache. She prevails, but their dying message is profound. She passes out telling ghost stories.

Nene visits to check on Saya, but the Ancient Ones appear. Saya tries in vain to protect her. On the way home, Nono’s shadow attacks at random.

Battles with the Ancient Ones involve more people close to Saya. A dog tells her to remember her vow to protect everyone. The enemy appears again.

Saya struggles and conquers the Ancient Ones, then Tokizane appears. Saya reveals her secret and he believes it. Later the enemy is in the schoolyard.

The Ancient Ones attack the school and eat Saya’s friends. Something starts to change inside her. That night Shinichiro Tokizane comes to the shrine.

After Saya loses her friends, the Ancient Ones attack. Shinichiro is targeted too. Saya faints from a headache. Kanako asks to see some ancient texts.
